The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Kinesiology Department offers a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology with three different areas of focus. Students can pursue the athletic training, exercise and movement science, or physical education options. The athletic training and movement science options are well suited for students interested in entering the fitness industry after graudation.

The department also offers MS and PhD level programs. Several of these programs, such as the Exercise Physiology program focus on exercise science. The MS level program is good preparation for a career in personal training and fitness, but the PhD level program is geared towards students interested in teaching or research in the field.
